Pilot Integration Course Held Successfully

On 2nd and 3rd October the Association for Integration and Migration held a “Pilot Integration Course,” intended for people who have received international protection in the Czech Republic (asylees and persons with supplementary protection).
The purpose of the course was to transmit important basic information, which these people need in order to successfully integrate into Czech society, as well as to serve as a personal gathering and a place for the mutual exchange of experiences and feelings about life in the Czech Republic.
Thus the individual lectures were not only theoretical, but also contained discussion and an opportunity for the course participants to ask concrete questions. The lectures were given by AIM staff members who have practical experience with legal and social advisory. This enabled the connection of theory with practice and the meeting was beneficial to both sides.
The course addressed the needs of concrete individuals in the situation where they have received international protection and are now faced with more questions and problems- housing, education, employment, orientation in the legal code of the CR, understanding Czech culture and values, lifestyle, the way state and private institutes work and last but not least the range of rights and obligations resulting from their status.
Course participants were provided with child care, refreshments, a group lunch and the handover of information/contacts for additional non-governmental and state organizations, with which course participants might meet or to whom they might turn in case of need.
The implementation of the Pilot Integration Course was supported by the Arbor Vitae Foundation and 50 % co-financed with AIM resources.
