Roubalová, Gunterová, Kostlán: The Arrivals (only in Czech)
In cooperation with the Centre for Migration, the Czech Literary Fund and the G plus G Publishing House we published a book called “The Arrivals”, which shows stories of the refugees and asylum seekers, the CCR clients. The therapist Věra Roubalová describes the narratives of those who live in detention centres and tries to depict their journey to freedom. František Kostlán, a member of the CCR who is a long-term expert on minorities in the Czech Republic, created the final version of the stories. The second part of the book deals with the analysis of Neo-Nazis and racism in the Czech Republic and brings a few stories to illustrate the levels of intolerance in Czech society. Tereza Günterová recorded the narratives of Czechs and foreign nationals, who met with racism and xenophobia. These short stories illustrate the harsh reality of life in our society, where anybody speaking with even a slight accent can be negatively affected and mistreated.
A glance in a Refugee's Cooking Pot, I. and II.
A book you will find recipes from various countries around the world - recipes for dishes prepared by woman refugees in the Czech republic. For several years we organize a women´s group meeting every week in the asylum facilities. Women of many nationalities join in this group. For these women, the meetings hold out an opportunity to escape from the dull routine of camp life, dress up and have a chat on various themes over a cup of coffee or tea. For every luncheon session, a woman prepares national dish for everyone to enjoy. Most of the time, they use simple recipes, adjusted to the conditions and possibilities of camp life. Some little taken from our chatting are added to the recipes to bring you closer to the atmosphere of these sessions. We hope that this book will also benefit for you.
