Conference "Regularisation of irregular migration" in the PICUM´s Quarterly Newsletter [07.06.2011]
The well-known European Platform for Internation Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants PICUM published the first edition of the PICUM Quarterly Newsletter. This Quarterly Newsletter is a summary and revised edition of news items published in the PICUM Bulletins between January and March 2011 providing you the most up to date information on each issue.
The news items of the PICUM Quarterly Newsletter are categorised thematically and sorted by country and chronologically. Analysis on irregular migration, labour market and regularisation [06.06.2011]
The three major Czech non-governmental organizations dealing with rights of foreigners Association for Integration and Migration, Organization for Aid to Refugees and Multicultural Centre Prague elaborated a comprehensive analysis on irregular migration, labor market and regularisation under the homonymic title to their common 2-year project „Regularisation as one of the tools in the fight against irregular migration“ and with a considerable contribution of foreign partner NGOs in the project SOS Racismo – Mugak from Spain and Solidariedade imigrante from Portugal.

EVALUATIVE NOTE: Conference "Regularisation of irregular migration" [15.04.2011]
With the participation of experts and a general public, the final conference for the project "Regularization as one of the tools in the fight against irregular migration", took place on 12 April 2011 in Prague.
The conference summarised the 2-year lasting work of three Czech non-governmental organisations dealing with the rights of foreigners (legal counseling, surveys, study of relevant legislation, lobbying for rights of immigrants in the Parliament), namely Association for Integration and Migration, Organisation for Aid to Refugees and Multicultural Centre Prague.
The key topic of the conference coincided with one of the main goals of the project – promotion of regularisation in the Czech Republic.

SIMI and MKC present at the Public hearing held at the European parliament [07.12.2010]
SIMI and MKC will attend the public hearing heald at the Europan Parliament on the theme
"Preventing undocumented pregnant women and children from accessing healthcare : Fostering health inequalities
in Europe”.
The hearing, hosted by several political groups and carried out in partnership with Médecins du Monde/HUMA network, the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), the European Women's Lobby (EWL) and the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), will bring together experts from EU institutions and civil society to discuss the main barriers faced by undocumented migrants to accessing health care in Europe, with a special focus on undocumented women and children.

Overview on access of the irregular migrants to the healthcare for report of HUMA Network [05.10.2010]
In the framework of the project Regularization as one of the tools in the fight against irregular migration, support by the European Social Fund, the cooperation with European based HUMA Network has been established. The network consists of 16 NGOs accross Europe, each of which has an activity related to health and migration and especially towards undocumented migrants and or asylum seekers.
The cooperation resulted in the participation of the Cech partners in preparatory works of a comparative overview related to the access of irregular migrants and asylum seekers to the healthcare in 11 EU Member states. Among others, the collected data will be used at the public hearings of the European Parliament, which will take place on 8 December 2010.

Study on Migration and the Economic Crisis: Implications for Policy in the European Union - by IOM [04.08.2010]
We have contributed to the study on impacts of the economic crisis on the migration field in the EU, the elaboration and compilation of which was initiated by the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) in Brussels. In the framework of the country case study, we have analysed the latest trend in the field of irregular migration and the the measures the state institutions had taken in order to suspend the negative impacts of the economic crisis on migrants residing in the Czech Republic.

of the 20th anniversary year of the UN Migrant Workers Convention,
December18, the International Resource Centre on the Human Rights of
Migrants, together with the European Platform for Migrant Workers Rights,
launches the campaign: “Europe it’s Time to Ratify the Migrant Workers
Convention,” demanding the European Union to live up to its core values,
all 27 Member States of the EU are asked to ratify this core international
human rights instrument.

Final report from the seminar in Prague organised for SOLIM [02.06.2010]
Read the report fro the seminar, which SIMI, OPU and MKC organised for Portuguese partner organisation Solidariedade Imigrante (SOLIM) z Portugalska in the framework of the project Regularization of irregular migration. The seminar took place in the period of 24 - 27 March 2010 and it aimed to familiarize the Portuguese delegates with the situation in the area of irregular migration and regularisation in the Czech Republic and along with it responsible practices for local non-profit organisations as well as Czech state administrative bodies and on that basis to develop debate in order to encourage Czech NGOs in their lobbying activities in relation to the discussed issues.
From the Portuguese side, Timóteo Macedo, director of SOLIM and his colleague Madina Omarkhanova accepted the invitation to the seminar.
